A brief walk up to the Mercat de les Flors, a benchmark for dance, with Antonia Santiago Amador, better known as “La Chana” after her hometown Barcelona, becomes a revealing experience. With her we get to remember the surprise of her students, trained in classic dance, when she displayed her movement “born from the soul” during their first class. With her we travel through archive images that show the unique character of a bailaora who has always believed in the truth as the driving force behind her dance. With her we get on the stage of the Mercat where she shows us the power and life which she still treasures in her hands and feet. But, above all, thanks to her, we lose our fear of improvising because “once you have the technique, it’s time to dare, to do something of your own and not learned” and, in that, she is a true master.
